Description
A prostate health screening involves a number of tests and examinations, such as blood tests, physical examinations, and imaging tests, each playing a significant role in diagnosing and monitoring prostate health. You will receive a blood test looking for PSA. Higher levels of PSA in the blood can be an indication of prostate cancer or other prostate conditions such as infection or enlargement. A digital rectal examination (DRE) is also essential to provide our doctor with an accurate diagnosis of your prostate. During this examination, the doctor will insert a gloved and lubricated finger into the rectum to feel the prostate for any irregularities in size, shape, or texture.
Imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI may also be used for further evaluation if blood tests or DRE suggests any abnormalities. These imaging tests provide a visual representation of the prostate gland and surrounding structures, allowing for a more detailed investigation of any potential issues. To maintain optimum prostate health, men, especially those over 50 or at a higher risk of developing prostate issues should consider regular health screenings. Early detection of prostate issues can reduce the risk of the condition becoming life-threatening. Our aim is to repair any bladder control issues you’re having and renew your sense of well-being.
