Maintain Good Health

Blood tests are an integral part of maintaining good health and managing certain medical conditions. They are very routine, and nothing to worry about. If you are experiencing medical symptoms such as mood swings, irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain or loss, fatigue, dizziness, discomfort, or pain, a blood test can help identify any abnormalities that may require treatment.

Monitor & Review

Individuals with a family history of certain conditions like diabetes or high cholesterol should consider regular blood tests. These tests can help monitor blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels, which are crucial for preventing complications associated with these conditions. Regular screening is especially important for people with a family history of these diseases as they may be at a higher risk of developing them. Men over the age of 50 should consider getting a blood test to check their prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels.

CONTACT US
1. Your Consultation
We can see you in clinic face to face or virtually online. The doctor will conduct an assessment to gather information about your medical history, symptoms, and any previous blood tests or treatments. There will then be a discussion about the reasons for ordering blood tests and an explanation of the process involved.
2. Your Treatment
A tourniquet may be wrapped around your arm to make it easier to locate the veins. Next, a needle will be inserted into a vein to draw a sample of your blood. You may feel a slight pinch or prick when the needle is inserted, but it is usually not very painful. Once enough blood has been collected, the clinician will remove the needle and apply pressure to the puncture site to stop any bleeding. They may also place a bandage or cotton ball over the site to protect it.
3. Your Aftercare
Firstly, we provide a detailed report of the blood test results, highlighting any abnormalities or concerns. This report is discussed with the patient, explaining the significance of the findings and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Additionally, we offer guidance on lifestyle changes or interventions that may be required based on the test results.

FAQs

Which blood tests do you offer?

We test for a wide variety of conditions both in clinic, or sent directly to your house for home testing. Examples include hormone profiles, diabetes, cholesterol, prostate PSA test, cancer screening blood tests and urine tests.

Do blood tests hurt?

For most patients, the sensation of having blood drawn is described as a mild discomfort rather than actual pain. The needle used for drawing blood is small and sharp, so the pain is usually brief and minimal.

How quickly will I get the results of my blood test?

In most cases, the results are available within a few days to a week. However, certain tests may require more time for processing and analysis. Factors such as the type of test, the volume of samples being processed, and the workload of the laboratory can all affect the time it takes to receive the results.
