Repair the Pelvic Floor

Prolapse is a common condition that affects many women, particularly as they age. It occurs when the muscles and tissues in the pelvic area weaken, causing organs such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum to descend or protrude into the vaginal canal. Traditionally, surgical intervention has been the go-to treatment for prolapse. However, there is now a non-invasive option available that can effectively treat this condition - the Emsella chair.

Non-Invasive Treatment

The Emsella chair is a breakthrough technology that offers a non-invasive approach to prolapse treatment. It works by using high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to stimulate and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. The chair emits electromagnetic waves that penetrate deep into the tissues, causing contractions in the muscles. These contractions help to strengthen and restore the pelvic floor, providing relief from prolapse symptoms. For more severe uterine prolapses, you may be offered vaginal probe treatment.

  • Our treatment eliminates the need for surgery
  • Repairs the pelvic floor
  • Relieves discomfort
  • Restores strength to relevant pelvic muscles

contact us
1. Your Consultation
We can see you in clinic face to face or virtually online. You’ll be asked about the symptoms you’re experiencing, such as pelvic pressure or discomfort, and our clinician will enquire about any previous treatments or surgeries. Following the assessment, a thorough exam is conducted to evaluate the extent of the prolapse and assess any associated complications. Further tests may be required to investigate bladder function.
2. Your Treatment
You’ll be invited to sit, fully clothed, in our Emsella chair. The chair emits electromagnetic waves that stimulate the muscles in the pelvic floor, causing them to contract and strengthen over time. Each treatment session lasts around 30 minutes.
3. Your Aftercare
You’ll be advised to avoid any strenuous activities or heavy lifting for at least 24 hours following the treatment. This will allow the pelvic floor muscles to recover and reduce the risk of further strain or injury. We’ll also recommend you avoid sexual intercourse for a few days after the treatment to allow the tissues to heal properly.

FAQs

What is a prolapse?

A prolapse refers to the displacement or dropping of an organ or tissue from its usual position. This can occur in various parts of the body, including the pelvic region, where the bladder, uterus, or rectum may protrude into the vagina. One common type of prolapse is uterine prolapse, which happens when the muscles and ligaments supporting the uterus weaken, causing it to descend into the vaginal canal. Symptoms of a prolapse may include discomfort, pressure, or a bulging sensation in the affected area.

How does prolapse treatment work?

The Emsella chair uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology to stimulate pelvic floor muscles and renew their tone and strength. This treatment is often recommended for women who are experiencing mild to moderate prolapse symptoms. Another option for prolapse treatment is using the Afrodite probe. This is a specialised device that is inserted into the vagina to deliver radiofrequency energy and stimulate collagen production in the vaginal walls. By promoting collagen growth, the Afrodite probe helps to tighten and strengthen the tissues, providing support for the pelvic organs. This treatment is particularly effective for women with more severe prolapse symptoms.

How effective is it?

The Emsella chair has shown remarkable results in improving symptoms of prolapse, such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Patients who have undergone this treatment have reported that it restored their quality of life and a reduced the severity of their symptoms.

The Afrodite probe has been shown to be highly effective in reducing the symptoms of prolapse and improving pelvic floor muscle strength. Patients who have undergone this treatment have experienced a significant reduction in urinary incontinence and a noticeable improvement in their overall pelvic floor function.
Our team of expert clinicians will be able to advise you on the best treatment options for you, based on the severity of your prolapse and your medical history.
